Township man has been promoted to sergeant in the Allegheny
County Police Department.
Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato announced Wes McClellan’s
promotion Thursday. McClellan has 17 years of service with the county
police, including three years with the multi-agency Violent Crimes Task
Force.
He also was stationed at District II in South Park with special
assignment to Allegheny County Housing Authority.
“The Allegheny County Police Department is among the finest in the
Commonwealth, and I am pleased to promote Wes McClellan for
demonstrating excellent

leadership and serving the public with honor,” Onorato said.
“On behalf of the 1.2 million residents of Allegheny County, I want to
congratulate and thank Sgt. McClellan and wish him continued success.”
Allegheny County Police Department was established in 1932. Uniformed
officers patrol the county’s nine regional parks, Pittsburgh
International Airport, and Allegheny County Airport.
The detective division includes general investigations, homicide and
narcotics. Specialized county police units include Audio & Video
Forensics, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team, Detention Services,
Narcotic Detection K-9, Special Weapons & Tactics Team, Airport Drug
Interdiction Team, Mounted Patrol, Motorcycle Detail and Community
Awareness.
