Betty E. Robb, 94, of
Forward Township, died Wednesday, February 9,
2011, in Crofton Care and Rehabilitation Center in Crofton, Md. She was born
January 6, 1917, in Jefferson Borough, daughter of the late John E. and Ida (Stemme)
Bickerton and the wife of 65 years to the late William C. Robb, who died
December 5, 2004. Betty worked at the Famous Department Store in McKeesport and
was a 60-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. She was a
1935 graduate of Clairton High School. A member of Mary Gamble Bible Class of
her church, she was also active in the church’s bake sales, rummage sales and
luncheons for many years. She was a regular dancer of Big Band and Ballroom
music at the Palisades in McKeesport for several years and will be remembered
for her keen sense of memory of dates, people, birthdays and events and for her
baking skills, especially for her pies and pecan sticky buns. She always had a
twinkle in her eye and a warm smile for all. She never had a bad word to say
about anyone and was loyal to her family and faith.
She was the loving mother of sons Paul W. (Angie) Robb of Crofton, Md., and David H. (Susan) Robb of Elizabeth Borough; grandchildren Darren Robb, Nathan Robb, Emily Robb, and Julie Robb; sisters Grace Kulka of Clairton, and Aileen Bickerton of Clairton; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Janice Lea Robb; grandson Jason Robb; brothers Howard, Orville, John, Donald, Thomas and Paul Bickerton; and sister Bernice Nagy.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Ave., Elizabeth, Pa., 15037 . Funeral service will be Monday, February 14, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Davidson officiating. Burial in Round Hill Cemetery.
