History of the Forward Township Police Department
I was going to start on this section over a year ago. I continually postponed starting such a large project because I never had sufficient information. I finally realized this section would never get started unless I did what I am doing now -- asking for help. Please help by providing whatever information, pictures, etc. that you can provide. My contact information is provided in GREEN below.
Forward Township's first provided police protection to its residents in the 1950s. (I need help here - would like to insert a paragraph or two about the developments that led to the institution of a police department) ****
The first Police Chief was George Hines. He served from xxx to xxx. (I need help here - would like to insert a paragraph or two about the Chief and his tenure.) ****
George was succeeded by (first name ?) "Jap" Piscitelli. (I need help here - would like to insert a paragraph or two about the Chief and his tenure.) ****
When Chief Piscitelli retired he recommended the Township appoint his long-time friend and subordinate Thomas Staley as Chief. The Township Supervisors approved his recommendation and in 1983 named Thomas Staley the Chief of Police. (Tom has promised to write a section about "the early years". He has already provided me with some articles. You can read one of those articles by double clicking on his name - where it is highlighted in BLUE above -- more will be added later. ****
